This song happened really fast.

It started with me downloading how I was feeling into a microphone one day and noticing themes starting to emerge: hope, despair, feeling behind, wanting to stop trying so hard and start flowing.

The verse started out with singing the line "somewhere between hope and desperation". The chorus came to me out of nowhere, and the rest of the song kind of wrote itself!

I joke that this song has "Bryan Adams" vibes because it's one of the simplest, most straightforward songs I've ever written—it's 4 chords and the lyrics aren't pulling any punches.

I may tweak a line here or there, but all in all, it's one of the easiest and, I think, most honest songs I've ever written.
